OUR “NATURE EXPLORATION” ACTIVITIES

Research shows that although the stresses of modern-day life can be extremely challenging, it can also provide opportunities for strengthening family bonds and growing together.

Families can explore three activities to achieve three main objectives for greater health and well-being.

1) Reduced stress / greater calm

2) Increased optimism

3) Strengthened family bonds and support networks

CONNECTION WITH NATURE

1) WHY CONNECTION WITH NATURE?

Extensive research spanning four decades documents the benefits of spending time in nature including reductions in depression, anxiety and stress, as well as greater calm and optimism, and increased social connections.

Large benefits to mood and self-esteem can occur from even short visits in nature, with the greatest change observed in youth.

Just a weekly ‘dose’ of nature for as little as 30 minutes is linked to significant improvements to mental health and relationships.
